Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. Interior of the new church. The massive old church was bombed in World War 2 and some of the remaining sections have been kept as a reminder.
Emperor Karl VI built this church to celebrate the Archbishop of Milan, St. Charles Borromeo, for the help he gave plague sufferers during the 1713 epidemic. It is huge and richly embellished and painted. We were able to get all the way to the top to see the frescoes on the ceiling, about 243 feet above the floor! I did not look down.
The Christ figure just seems to float. Lovely!
